Richardi Park Beach Advisory Lifted

The Health Department of Northwest Michigan (HDNW) is lifting a beach advisory put into place Thursday based on testing conducted at Richardi Park in the Village of Bellaire, Antrim County. The advisory posting at the beach has been removed.

The short-term advisory is based on a follow-up water sample collected Thursday showing an E. coli level of 291.8 per 100 milliliters. According to the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) water quality standards, E. coli levels below 301 do not qualify for advisories at the beach.

HDNW posts beach monitoring reports weekly on its website at https://www.nwhealth.org/beach.html. Through an EGLE supported web-based program, the public has real-time access to beach water quality results for beaches all over Michigan. Information can be found at www.deq.state.mi.us/beach/.
