Vision Screenings

Your child's ability to see is very important to the learning process. A vision test is required prior to school entry. Appointments are available in each county for free vision screening. In cooperation with your local school district, vision testing is offered through your child's school years to include between ages 3-5, and grades 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

Many children enter school with vision problems. Children usually do not know that they see differently. Early identification of an eye problem is important.

FREE HEARING TESTING

Hearing Screenings

Your child's ability to hear is also very important to the learning process. A hearing test is required prior to school entry. Appointments are available in each county for free hearing screening. FREE Hearing Screening is available for all children 6 months of age to 18 years of age.

In cooperation with your local school district, hearing testing is offered through your child’s school years to include once between the ages of 3-5, and grades 2 and 4. Many children may be unaware that they hear differently from their peers.  Early identification of hearing loss can alleviate speech/language delays, social/emotional delays, academic delays, and psychological delays.

FREE DENTAL ASSESSMENTS

Kindergarten Dental Assessments

Early detection and treatment of dental problems can help children succeed in school. That’s why Michigan created the Kindergarten Oral Health Assessment Program (KOHA). Children getting ready to enter kindergarten are eligible to receive a FREE dental assessments. There’s no need to call us to schedule an appointment, we will at the school during kindergarten round-ups and health fairs. If you prefer to have your dental provider do the screening - just take the KOHA Assessment Form to your dentist to have them fill it out and then return a copy to the school!
