Karen Kreger retires from Health Department after 25 years in Antrim County office

(February 3, 2009) For over 25 years, anyone who called or stopped by the Health Department’s Antrim County office was greeted by Karen Kreger. The County Office Coordinator retired February 1 and plans to spend more time with her family.

“Karen has been an outstanding employee, very dedicated to her job,” said Nancy Mikulski, her longtime supervisor. “She has a big heart for the community too.”

Kreger spearheaded a project to provide baby sleepers and Glen’s gift cards for families with new babies in Antrim County, she said. “She requested these grant funds from the local Lions Club every year for nearly 20 years.”

“Karen has been an outstanding employee,” Mikulski continued. “With Karen in charge, I was always confident everything was running smoothly at the office. We’re all going to miss her. But she’s worked hard and deserves the opportunity for more free time, especially to spend time with her grandchildren.”

Jane VanSumeren was promoted to Bellaire Office Coordinator after interviews with internal and external candidates.
